About me

I care about positive effective agility, done right, leveraged through concepts of Lean, Flow, and ToC. I do not take sides on any existing agile method, or agile at scale approach as I believe that all methods and approaches out there have value to contribute. However I feel the concept of Agile has worn out and lost credibility, time to move on. I always believed that the trick to successful agility is to define the purpose for agility, understand the context for agile and set up an environment for it to evolve, and then choosing the appropriate tools to start the journey towards agility. Finally, the teams, the people who are at the heart of the agile organization, have a true chance to adapt to the new ways of delivering value.

I still believe this, yet it’s time for a rebrand and true implementation of first principles!

I’m Mario Aiello, agility enthusiast, lean and systems thinker, mentor, former rugby player, and wishful golfer.

Throughout the past decades I had the chance to be involved and lead some challenging agile initiatives that provided a good opportunity for thought. The intention of this blog is to collect my agility experiences in response to the challenges I encounter along the way. All this material needed a home and some structure, and I thought it may well provide a good sandpit for future agility work. These postings may be disordered, may lack rigor, may deserve full explanations, but are here as a testimony that agility and transitions to new ways of working are something to be pondered about, and while not correct at the first go then an inspect and adapt approach will bring us closer to the goal. I read each post over time and change it, I adapt it as my vision on agility evolves.
